What a Missed Conflict Costs Your Firm in a Year
Put a dollar figure on the matters that come in with a conflict nobody caught during the intake call.

Both tools use numbers a solo attorney can estimate from memory, and both produce a figure you can take to a partner conversation or a malpractice renewal.
Conflict screening is one of those tasks that never shows up on a profit and loss statement, so it is easy to treat as free. It is not free. It costs minutes on every inquiry, it costs whole days across a year, and when it fails it costs fees you have to give back plus the hours you spend unwinding a matter you should never have opened.
These two calculators put numbers on both halves. The first estimates the annual dollar exposure of conflicts that get missed at intake. The second estimates the time your firm spends searching names, logging declined callers, and re running checks when a new adverse party appears in an amended complaint. Change the defaults to match your own practice and the results update as you type.

Four stages that take a prospective client call from the first hello to a dated screening record you would be comfortable showing a judge.
Solo attorneys already do this arithmetic on the back of an intake sheet. Five names on a divorce inquiry times four minutes a name, times the callers who reached you this week, plus the minutes spent writing down the ones you declined. Nobody asks you to register before you multiply that on paper, so we did not put a form in front of the same sums here. Type your inquiry count, your names per matter, and your hourly rate, and the figure appears as you go.
The two numbers are worth having even if you never open an intake form of ours. A screening hours total is a concrete answer when a malpractice renewal application asks how new matters are cleared, and the missed conflict figure gathers the costs that follow a withdrawal into one line: fees you refund on a matter you should not have opened, unbilled hours on the withdrawal letter and the file transfer, and your deductible if the client reports a claim. Print the results, argue with the inputs, and hold any software quote against them, ours included.
Whatever total the calculators just produced, those minutes currently go into checking names against a closed file list one at a time. A demo shows the same names typed once on a structured intake form and searched across current clients, closed matters, and callers you turned away, in one pass. Bring your own number and we will start the conversation there.
